On August 2, 1971, a Bulova chronograph was worn on the Moon, designed for the demands of the lunar environment. Now, the Bulova Lunar Pilot 96A299 watch revives the design and updates it with an exclusive high-precision quartz movement, continuing its legacy of precision timekeeping in the Archive series. The Lunar Pilot chronograph features the same 43.5mm polished stainless steel case as the original Bulova chronograph. The slender chronograph pushers and the crown with the Bulova tuning fork logo are positioned at 3 o'clock. Beneath the flat sapphire crystal, the six-hand chronograph dial features a black and silver design, with a tachymeter ring and retro Bulova branding. The slender hands and applied indices offer exceptional readability and are coated with Super-LumiNova for viewing in low-light conditions. The recessed, circularly grooved sub-dials include a 1/20th-second chronograph counter at 3 o'clock, a running seconds hand at 6 o'clock, and a 60-minute chronograph counter at 9 o'clock. The Lunar Pilot is powered by Bulova's proprietary high-precision quartz movement, which resonates at a frequency of 262 kHz for unparalleled accuracy and allows for a sweeping chronograph hand and running seconds hand. The watch is paired with a silver-tone 3-link stainless steel bracelet with a push-button deployant clasp, featuring a quick-release system for easy strap changes (an accessory strap is not provided for the Italian market).
