Yema Watches - History and Innovation
YEMA is an independent watch brand based in Morteau, the cradle of French watchmaking. Founded in 1948 by Henry-Louis Belmont, a pioneer in the automation of watch production, YEMA distinguishes itself in the creation of ultra-resistant watches ideal for extreme activities, such as diving and car racing, as well as military and space expeditions: in honor of extraordinary men capable of performing feats in extreme conditions. It is no coincidence that the motto "Time of Heroes" became YEMA's official slogan a few years later.
In 1953, YEMA produced one of the first diving watches water-resistant up to 100 meters, and in 1966 it launched the Yachtigraf model, becoming the official supplier to the French Sailing Team.
In 1967, it patented a bezel-locking mechanism for the iconic Yema Superman model, which increased safety during dives by preventing the rotating bezel from moving accidentally.
Another iconic model is the Yema Rallygraf, designed in honor of Mario Andretti, considered the greatest driver in history.
YEMA is also a supplier of military watches for the French Navy and continues to innovate with the in-house CMM.20 caliber, designed and assembled in Morteau to ensure precision and durability at competitive prices.
